Last week, I got my first model of the new MinitrainS HFB Brigade locomotives.
In this post, I’ll show you the loco.
The models are really great. They are a little bit oversized and they turn out in 009 instead of Hon30. That’s a compromis to the prototype gauge of 600mm to the model gauge of 9mm.
The locos are very fine detailed and well done. Even the fine rows of rivets are done pretty well. Many details are separately added and turn this loco into a real beauty. The drive mechanism is also great as usual on Minitrains models. The concept is the same as on the other locos with vertical motor with flywheel inside the cab. The loco weights 70gr out of the box, which is very good for such a model.
I installed DCC to my green locomotive. To remove the shell, just screw out the stack. The shell is clipped to the chassis as usual on MinitrainS models. The decoder can be placed behind the motor where is enough room. I also connected the head lights to the decoder.
Additional details are red buffer beams and a black smoke box door, which will give the loco a totally different look. In front of the cab on the firemen side, I installed a wooden box for coal and I replaced the stack, since my logging railroads needs spark arrestors on all steam locos.
Finally, there is only the engine crew missing, together with some tools, clutter and maybe some weathering.
