New geared steamers for my Hon30 US roster

Posted by Gerd on Monday, 17 November 2014

this morning, I picked up my 2014 christmas gift at the customs office. This wounderfull Climax was build by Sugiyama in Japan and imported to the states by Flying Zoo. They are hard to find and even more mystic than the Joe Works Shays. I’m happy and proud to have one in my collection now.

The loco is running on Hon3 gauge, but the locos very factory made for Hon30 too, so regauge the trucks is no big deal. I did a test run after some cleaning and oiling and the loco runs great.

One week ago, I also got a new Joe Works Shay. This T-boiler Shay of the well known MichCal #2 design is already regauged for 9mm track.

My idea is to install coreless motors to both engines, together with DCC and headlights. I’ll also spend a paint job on both, together with lettering and details. But this will take some time and there are some other projects to be finished first.

Togehter with my Babyshay, I’ve 3 geared steam locomotives for my US logging railroad roster.

Cheers, Gerd

    Hallo Gerd,
